Unit No. 9

The Edith

In 1915, the then-president of the Guild Edith Brubaker led fellow members down Broad Street — the main thoroughfare of Philadelphia — in a parade for women’s suffrage. The women wore yellow-and-white armbands — the colors of their cause. Today, the chic Edith suite is trimmed in honorary gold and white, while the Art Deco motif — including the room’s original crystal chandeliers — nods to the bold, decadent style popular at the time Edith ran the Guild.
